New Generations

New Generations encourages Rotarians to support youth programs in order to nurture peace and cultural understanding.

The Read To Me Club

Honolulu Sunrise is an active club with a strong focus on education.  We received the Club Achievement Award for our efforts in launching the "Read To Me" program which is now an international effort.  Our club continues to promote literacy through an on-going weekly reading program at Royal School.

Royal Scholars

In 1997 we began mentoring twenty children from Royal School.  The program started when the children were in first grade and will continue until they are in college.  Each scholar has a Rotarian buddy with whom they participate in community service events, social activities and fundraisers,  To date we have raised more than $35,000 toward their college education.

Interact

Interact is a Rotary sponsored service club for young poeople ages 14 to 18.  The program gives young people an opportunity to participate in fun, meaningful service projects while developing leadership skills and meeting new friends.  Honolulu Sunrise sponsers an interact club at Roosevelt High School and at Mid Pacific Institute.

Honolulu Sunrise Scholars

Every year, Honolulu Sunrise awards scholarships to Roosevelt High School seniors based on academic achievement and financial hardship.

New Generations for Rotary Year 2005-2006

• Sunrise members took the Royal Scholars, Midpac's Interact Club and our children on a fishing party at the reservoir.
• Annual Royal Scholars car wash fundraiser took place.
• Project visitation gives separated foster children a chance to see their siblings.  Interact students from Roosevelt and Mid Pacific planned games and activities.
